HTC has recently released the HTC U11 smartphone which is the latest smartphone in the flagship smartphone series from the company. The HTC U11 is the successor to the HTC 10 which was released last year by the company. Talking about the HTC 10, the smartphone has already received the Android 7.0 Nougat update from the company and is also running the latest security patch update. The unlocked variant of the smartphone, however, is now receiving the latest security patch update which is the July security patch via a software update.
Talking about the software update from HTC, the unlocked variant of the HTC 10 is getting the update with build 2.51.617.1. The OTA update size is pretty big as it comes down to almost 600MB in size so we should expect to see something more from the update than just the security patch. As is the case with all the updates from the company, HTC recommends you to download the update over Wi-Fi to stay away from additional charges which may incur if download via mobile data. Also, the changelog on the HTC 10 smartphone says that the update also brings some system enhancements along with it so we should expect some improvements in device performance as well.
Now, talking about the rollout of the update on your smartphone, the company has already started to roll out the update to the unlocked variants of the HTC 10 and the update should be received on all the respective HTC 10 smartphones in the coming days. Also, there is no mention from HTC about the deletion of the data on your phone after the update and the changelog also says that the update would not “delete any of your content”. However, you should take the backup on your phone so that you can keep the data on your smartphone safe.
