Google has started to release monthly security patches from at least two years now and the company, who is also responsible for maintaining the Android OS has been giving regular security patches to its Pixel and Nexus devices every month. Last month, we saw Google release the May security patch on May 5 and now, exactly a month later, we can report that Google has released the June security patch for the Pixel and Nexus devices. Google is rolling out a new update to its Nexus and Pixel handsets which installs the June security patch on the smartphones.
All the users who are currently not on the Android O beta program can install the update on their Nexus or Pixel devices. As per a report, the new security patch should bring fixes for most of the freezing issues that have been reported earlier. Rogers, the Canadian carrier mentions that the update brings along with it a fix for VoLTE issue on Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. The report goes on to mention that the latest security patch, i.e., the 05 June 2017 update resolves nearly 80 issues while the one dated 01 June 2017 fixes 21 bugs. These two security patches will allow Google’s Android partners to provide a fix to certain vulnerabilities that are common to all Android devices.
While the security vulnerabilities range from moderate to critical as per the report, there have been no reports of users getting affected by these issues. The monthly security patches from Google are always beneficial to keep our Android smartphones safe and secure. The Android OS has always been blamed for being insecure and this release of monthly security patches by Google will help in strengthening the device’s security. As far as the update is concerned, make sure to check your Pixel and Nexus devices and expect the update to come to your device soon.
