Google launched the Pixel as well as the Pixel XL2 last year. The Pixel phones from Google were also the first generation of smartphones that have been developed and designed by Google. Earlier, Google released the Nexus lineup of smartphones every year which were pretty famous among the developer community as well as the phones were manufactured by third-party manufacturers. However, Google decided to take matters in its own hands and launched the Pixel lineup which meant that the company scrapped the Nexus lineup and the Nexus 6p, as well as Nexus 5x, may remain the last of the Nexus phones.
Now, XDA-Developers have released the specifications of the next Google Pixel phones which will be called the Pixel 2. However, we have not known whether the phones will be called the Pixel 2 as well as Pixel XL 2 same as last year. Google has also reportedly cancelled the ‘Muskie’ variant of the Pixel phones which was expected to be the Pixel XL 2. The codenames for the two new phones is leaked as Walleye and Taimen. Here, take note that Walleye is the smaller Pixel phone which is the Pixel 2 while Taimen is expected to be larger than the Pixel XL from last year. Now, according to XDA-Developers, the larger device coming from Google this year will feature a 5.99-inch display with a 1440p OLED panel provided by LG whereas the smaller Pixel device will feature a familiar 4.97-inch display with FHD resolution similar to last year’s Pixel.
XdaDevelopers has also added that the Pixel phones for this year will feature a slightly different design than the original Pixel phones. However, the dual-tone design of glass, as well as metal combination, will remain but the fingerprint sensor will no longer be covered by the glass. Stay tuned to know about more Pixel 2 leaks and rumors as we know more.
