Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a recent addition to Xiaomi’s high-range smartphone family. It is more of a phablet than a smartphone because it has 6.44-inch HD display screen. The main feature which makes it unique and getting sold like hot cakes is its 5300 mAh battery. It is a direct competition to Lenovo tablets and it comes with 12 MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 5 MP selfie shooter, 4 GB RAM, Dual SIM slot, and fingerprint scanner.
[Custom ROM] Lineage OS 14.1 On Mi Max 2
Previously, CyanogenMod used to be the must-flashed custom ROM for most of the phablets to avail more features and perform extraordinary tweaks. But as you might be aware, CyanogenMod is officially dead and Lineage OS is its successor. Recently, Lineage OS 14.1 has been made available for various popular devices and Mi Max 2 is also included in the list despite being a latest released device. Pre-Requirements
- You might be aware that during flashing of ROMs, all the data gets completely wiped out. So, take a full backup of your device data before proceeding.
- Charge your Mi Max 2 so that it should have at least 50% of battery charge.
- Your Xiaomi Mi Max 2 must be rooted. It must also have TWRP installed.
- Download and install a custom recovery before proceeding further if you do not have it already.

Steps To Install Lineage OS 14.1 On Mi Max 2
Step 1. Download Lineage OS 14.1 ROM for Mi Max 2 Zip file and save it on your device.
Step 2. Boot your device in Recovery Mode and create a Nandroid backup for a backup in case something goes wrong in the process. (Check Pre-Requirement Section)
Step 3. Go to Wipe and Advanced Wipe and select Wipe Cache, System, Dalvik Cache, and Data.
Step 4. Go to Install and select the ROM Zip of Lineage OS 14.1 from your device and swipe to start installing ROM file.
Step 5. Download and flash your device with GApps in the same way as above. Google Apps do not come with Lineage OS 14.1
Step 6. Now wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache again and reboot your device and start exploring your Mi Max 2.
There are a few bugs reported and if you find them serious, you can always flash your device back to stock ROM.
