AT&T has been releasing the security patches and android firmware updates quite regularly to their phones which have been running on their network. The At&t network is one of the largest and the widest-growing network in the U.S. We have already seen that the At&t network’s Samsung and LG smartphones have been constantly receiving updates with the latest security patch and the Android 7.0 Nougat or the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. Now, the LG G5 smartphone is receiving an update on the At&t network which can only be termed as the bug-fixer update.
AT&T is rolling out an update to the LG G5 with a really technical set of changelog. The update comes as software version H82020n and is based on Android 7.0 with security patch level of April 1, 2017. The update brings support for Wireless Internet Service Provider roaming (WISPr) which allows users to use roaming services for wireless internet service in a manner similar to that of cellular networks.
Besides, WISPr, there’s a fix for RTT (Real Time Text) as well with this update to the AT&T LG G5. The OTA update is being pushed out in batches, so if you haven’t received the update notification yet, you may need to wait a bit. You can also try checking for the update manually from Settings » About » Software update. Before you download the update, ensure that your data is backed up safely on your PC, in case of an installation error. Also ensure that your device has sufficient charge of at least 50% before installing. Since this is a moderately large update sized at 378MB, it would be wise to download it over WiFi and save on additional data charges. Also make sure that you backup all your data on a safer place just in case your update process doesn’t go as planned earlier.
