Samsung has been quite active in the recent days when it comes to phone launches and the company recently launched the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ as well as Samsung Galaxy Feel and Samsung Galaxy Wide 2 aka the J7 2017. Samsung is also concentrating on giving regular updates to the devices as well. This trend has been continued even with the Samsung phones released in the past. In 2015, Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Later, the company also released the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active which is a rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active had already received the Android update of Nougat at the start of this Month. Today, AT&T is starting to push out the May security patch to the device. The update, which is seeding Over the Air, is identified as software version G890AUCU6DQE1. The carrier has been on roll this week and has brought a good majority of its high end devices to the May security patch.
The security patch essentially protects your device from viruses, malware and other vulnerabilities that can be taken advantage of by hackers. The update also includes system enhancements, removes glitches in the system interface and irons out other prevalent issues from the previous build G890AUCU6DQD1. The OTA update is pretty small and sized around 15MB.
As far as the update is concerned, the At&t network is going to rollout the update to all the devices in its network in a staged manner. This means that the update will come to your device sooner or later if you are currently on the At&t network. You can try checking manually from Settings » Software update. Also make sure that you charge your battery above 50% before installing the update to your Samsung Galaxy S6 Active.
