Timely security patches is one of the many reasons people purchase the Google Pixel line of smartphones. While other OEM’s push out major Android version updates, they fail to provide monthly security patches. While this holds true even for flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy J3(2017) which is a mid-ranger has become the first phone to get the April Security Patch. The smartphone was launched in June 2017.
It is worthy to note that even Google’s Pixel and Nexus devices haven’t received the update yet. This seems weird and it is unknown as to why Samsung pushed out the latest security patch update to it’s budget smartphone instead of choosing on of it’s flagships.
However, we do not have much information as to what the April Android security patch brings. This is due to the fact the even Google hasn’t specified details on the update yet. Usually, every monthly security patch fixes crucial vulnerabilities which may provide a threat if not fixed.
This is an incremental update and is available in only a few European countries as of now. It is expected to completely roll out worldwide in about a week or two. You can check manually by going to Settings > Software update.
