Motorola had launched the Motorola Moto X Play smartphone in the middle of 2015. People were hoping of getting the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on the Moto X Play as it is a much older device but the company seems to have heard the request of its users. The Moto X Play is getting the update to the Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Before getting into further details, let us warn you that you won’t be able to downgrade to the previous software versions once you install the latest update. The company has skipped the Android 7.0 Nougat update (as opposed to what it promised earlier) and is directly rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
This update will bring all the Nougat goodies to the Moto X Play including multi-window split screen mode, improved Doze mode, and updated notifications shade. Also, the Moto X Play users can now check out the updated Quick Settings and Settings Menu which is a part of the Nougat update. Further, the update will install Google’s video calling app, the Google Duo on the smartphone which comes as the app has been made mandatory to be installed as a video calling app to use on the Moto X Play.
The new update also carries with it the Android security patches until May 1st, 2017 alongside the usual bug fixes and stability improvements. As is the case with any update make sure to maintain at least 50% charge before installing the update. Also, try to back up your data and switch to a Wi-Fi network to avoid additional data charges before the installation process begins. Do make sure that the update has been installed correctly on the device with atleast 25% battery left after the installation on your phone. Also take a backup of all your important stuff to be on the safer side.
