Google had organized an event yesterday which was expected to be the Google Pixel launch event as it was also the same day as the Google Pixel smartphones were launched in 2016 which is October 4. As expected, the company announced the second generation of Google Pixel smartphones known as the Google Pixel 2 in the event yesterday along with many new products from Google in the ‘Made by Google’ lineup. However, as expected, the limelight of the event was the announcement of Google Pixel 2 which is the smaller variant and the Google Pixel 2 XL which is the bigger variant from the company.
Now, this also means that most of the premium smartphones that were expected to be launched this year have now been announced since Apple also announced the Apple iPhone 8 series and the iPhone X. Samsung also announced their flagship smartphone in the Galaxy S series which is the Galaxy S8 Plus. Now, if we take a look at the Google Pixel 2 XL, it comes with a 6-inch AMOLED bezel-less display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 same as the Galaxy S8 Plus and the iPhone X but the iPhone 8 Plus falls apart as it has a standard 5.5-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio and larger bezels than its competition. Talking about the processors, the Google Pixel 2 XL and the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus come with Snapdragon 835 processor whereas the latest iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X come with Apple A11 Bionic Chip which is faster than the Snapdragon 835 chips in early benchmark tests. The Galaxy S8 Plus and Google Pixel 2 XL have a single camera on the back with software-based portrait mode whereas the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X have dual rear cameras with portrait mode due to a telephoto lens. In terms of pricing, the Google Pixel 2 XL is priced starting at $849 similar to the iPhone 8 Plus and higher than the Galaxy S8 Plus whereas the iPhone X starts at $999.
