LineageOS has been a custom ROM which has had tremendous popularity and success in a short time which is partly due to the popularity of CyanogenMod, its predecessor. The LineageOS custom ROM came into existence in January this year after the rift between CyanogenOS and CyanogenMod which forced the ROM developers to change the name of CyanogenMod to LineageOS in order to avoid copyright issues. LineageOS, same as CyanogenMod is a custom ROM which has near-stock experience and doesn’t add too many features in stock android but there are very useful additions as well to the ROM. This has made many people switch to LineageOS who love stock android experience on their phones.
Talking about LineageOS, the developers behind the ROM publish a weekly or bi-weekly or monthly update to give its users an update on what has been changed in the ROM in the past build and what will come to the ROM with the latest update. Same is the case this time around and LineageOS developers have posted a new update on their official website. Talking about the changes that have been done with the latest update, the developers have mentioned that the default browser on LineageOS, Jelly has been improved. Also, Google is now made the default search engine in the Jelly browser but this can be changed by heading over to its settings. Other than that, Yandex search engine has been added to the Jelly browser.
Other changes to LineageOS include that the LineageOS 13.0 now comes with the July security patch and the LineageOS 14.1 now comes with August security patch which is the latest security patch. Do note that LineageOS 14.1 is based on Android 7.1 Nougat and LineageOS 13.0 is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Other changes to the ROM include bug fixes and stability improvements.
